hydra
2022
HYDRA is a project with a similar premise to a previous project named The Interaction, however, instead of discussing how we respond to the dead and the overall subject of death - it is about how we interact with water. These interactions are captured through analogue photography (including a waterproof camera) and a stream of consciousness in poetry.
Personally, I have always felt at peace in water, especially in large bodies of water, such as the North Sea. However, I know that some people do not share that same comfort in the sea; but are fearful. Then there are those in between. I want to talk to people about their relationship with water.
This project is not be closed to only discussing the North Sea or other large bodies of water; but also burns, streams, rivers, lakes or lochs, swimming pools, or the little bathtub.
This is only the beginning of this body of work, I will hopefully explore multiple facets of our relationship to water, from the act or ritual of bathing, the reflective nature of the surface, overall experiences - good and bad -, folklore and mythologies, and the sound of crashing water soothing someone to sleep, etc., etc., etc.
